How to Create Your Own Home School Worksheets

sight-word-the-practice-9-12-16I have had great success with finding free and low cost materials to build my curriculum.  There are two awesome and FREE resources that help me create custom home school worksheets.  These two websites have been instrumental in helping me develop focused lesson plans each week.

Handwriting Practice

The first resource I want to share is called Handwriting Practice.  This cool website allows you to create custom traceable writing pages that include manuscript lines.  You can literally create a worksheet from scratch!  You can customize the content, titles, and layout of your worksheet, and print a PDF for use over and over again.  The Handwriting Practice website allows me to develop home school worksheets that fit seamlessly into my lesson plans.  When I first began homeschooling my daughter, I used this resource to practice the Letter of the Week, writing sentences using my weekly sight words, and helping my daughter practice writing her full name.  Currently, I love using this program to create copy work worksheets as she practices her handwriting.  I really love the ease and functionality of this site and of course the FREE price tag is an added bonus.  I love the fact that I have the ability to create what I want in order to enhance my curriculum.  Click on the graphic in this post to see a sample worksheet!

Twisty Noodle

The second resource that I’ve found extremely helpful is Twisty Noodle.  I know it’s a bit of a funny name, but this website is seriously a great addition to my home school resources.  The Twisty Noodle website has a tremendous variety of pre-made coloring pages that cover a variety of topics including letter, numbers, colors, months, and animals, just to name a few.  While you cannot change all of the content on these worksheets, you can change page headings and some words.  These worksheets include pictures, so your little learner can practice coloring and handwriting.  I am enjoying creating home school worksheets with this website and providing my daughter with fun coloring pages.

Both of these resources have proven to be tremendously beneficial as I continue on this homeschooling journey.  I hope you’ll take an opportunity to check out these free websites to experience them for yourself.  I’m confident you’ll find them helpful as well.
